joined us in January 2020 as a Trainee Paralegal with a focus on criminal defence and family cases. As a key member of our dedicated Client Care Team, she will likely be one of the people to whom you speak initially when you call.
Joanne has over 4 years’ experience of working within a predominantly client care focused team and in the legal industry. Key to her success is her ability to engage and empathise right from the start, which enables her to build trust from the outset so that clients feel reassured and in the best hands possible for their case. This is so important for our clients, given it is likely to be one of, if not the most stressful and often frightening time for them.
Areas of expertise
As a key and valued case team member, Joanne works closely with our solicitors and partners on a wide range of criminal and family cases. Her criminal caseload often requires her to work closely with senior barristers and Queen’s Counsel on a range of complex cases such as serious sexual allegations.
Attention to detail, strong analytical and due diligence skills are all vital to building a compelling legal case. Joanne has developed her skillset across these areas which she utilises to great effect, for example, in producing client account representations and securing record deletion for false allegations. As a result, Joanne is building a proven track record in helping to get investigations dropped at police station stage before being passed to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).
What her clients say about her:
- Hospitality industry - Senior Manager falsely accused of sexual assault against female staff. Following the preparation of comprehensive client representations and supporting evidence, which was submitted to the Police, the matter was not sent to the CPS and a no further action (NFA) verdict was agreed.
- Businessman - Historic family rape allegation. This required extensive crown court trial preparation, working closely with Queens Counsel and developing a trusting client relationship to prepare the defence file together with key witness statements.
- Student – Teenage male accused of sexual assault at a birthday party. This required regular and persistent communication with the police investigating officer, to obtain full disclosure in order to inform and ensure the best course of action for the defence.
- Non-molestation order hearing – family domestic abuse and harassment allegation during the COVID-19 lockdown. Key to the success of the defence was the preparation of a comprehensive and detailed brief and collation of crucial supporting documentation for Counsel.
"Honestly brilliant throughout, Maria and Joanne were dealing with everything for me. They sorted out my barrister, who was also brilliant.
The whole thing was unnecessary but luckily I came across MG solicitors and couldn’t recommend enough, if I ever have any need for legal matters in the future then these are the only people I want to deal with.
Thank you again!"
